On May 23, 2025, Dr.-Ing. Muhammad Usman from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) presented the Droughtmap-ASB tool to the scientific staff of the Scientific Research Center of Water Problems under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the help of Dr. Murod Sultanov from the Urgench State University, Uzbekistan.
The session was held in Urgench City, bringing together experts and technical staff to explore innovative solutions for drought monitoring and regional water resource management.
The event was organized within the framework of the Green Central Asia – Phase II initiative, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and coordinated by GIZ Uzbekistan. The tool demonstration emphasized real-time drought monitoring capabilities, spatial analysis functions, and the integration of remote sensing indicators such as NDVI and ESI for improved climate resilience and decision-making in water management.
The interactive session also facilitated dialogue on potential national applications and customization of the tool to address local hydrological challenges.
