On 16.06. and 17.06.2025 the “Agroforestry Expert Forum” organized by the Geoecology Working Group and the Bund Heimat und Umwelt Deutschland took place at MLU. The main topic of the workshop with around 30 participants was “From the past to the future” and was particularly important for the two DiP projects “SMART Agroforst” (contact person: Jan Lukas Wenzel) and “FaiReSyst” (contact person: Dr. Julia Pöhlitz). At the event, historical and current agroforestry systems were examined in terms of their significance for modern agriculture, biodiversity and the shaping of the environment. Good examples of the networking of stakeholders and the communication of the topic were also presented as part of an excursion. In terms of content, the expert forum highlighted the ecological, social and economic added value of agroforestry, opportunities for cooperation between stakeholders and regional marketing. With various stakeholders from agriculture, research, associations and societies, the results were presented in a generally understandable way and recommendations were formulated. We from the geoecology working group would like to thank the Bund Heimat und Umwelt Deutschland for the organization and the opportunity to participate and look forward to future collaboration.
