Cilento National Park, August 2024. At the end of the dry season in August, Léonard and David are once again on a field campaign in the Cilento National Park as part of the GM-GDE project. Together with Prof. Pantaleone De Vita from the University of Naples, they are investigating the groundwater-soil-plant interaction in groundwater-dependent and non-dependent ecosystems. To this end, they are measuring the diurnal cycle of leaf transpiration of different species along river courses and in scrubland. In addition, soil moisture loggers to a depth of 1 metre and piezometers to a depth of 7 metres have been installed at four sites to provide a first insight into the annual cycle of soil moisture in groundwater-dependent and non-dependent oak vegetation. We look forward to analysing the data and to further successful collaboration with the University of Naples.
