Nachhaltiges Landmanagement

Mit KULUNDA soll ein wesentlicher Beitrag zur Anpassung der Landnutzung an die Standortverhältnisse und den Klimawandel, zur Reduzierung von Treibhausgasemissionen sowie zur nachhaltigen Regionalentwicklung in temperierten Grasländern geleistet werden. Dabei gilt der Entwicklung und der Etablierung eines, auch über die Projektlaufzeit hinaus selbst tragenden Landnutzungsmanagementsystems, das von dieser Modellregion auch auf andere Konversionsgebiete der temperierten Grasländer, den „Brotkörben der Welt“, übertragbar ist, ein herausgehobenes Interesse des internationalen Forschungsverbundes.

Hintergrund und Ziele:

Das übergeordnete Projektziel „How to prevent the next global dust bowl?“ soll im Rahmen der Bearbeitung folgender Arbeitsschwerpunkte erreicht werden:

  • Analyse der grundsätzlichen Wirkungszusammenhänge von landwirtschaftlichen Anbauverfahren auf die Bodeneigenschaften,
  • Entwicklung und Implementierung angepasster Nutzungssysteme und Möglichkeiten der Steppenrestauration,
  • Analyse der Wirkung von natürlichen und gesellschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen auf Landnutzungsentscheidungen sowie
  • Schaffung und Implementierung einer Planungs- und Beratungsplattform, die die Einführung von ökologisch und ökonomisch nachhaltigen Landnutzungsstrategien unterstützen
Methodischer Ansatz:

Das Verbundvorhaben wird von 11 Teilprojekten getragen. In jedes der Teilprojekte sind russische Kooperationspartner einbezogen, die die wissenschaftlichen Ziele von KULUNDA unterstützen und von russischer Seite finanziert werden.
