During this year‘s KendyrTex field campaign (May 2–12, 2023), further important information on Apocynum venetum were collected. In cooperation with Al–Farabi University, natural sites along the Ili River were sampled and groundwater level measurements were taken. In addition, seedlings were collected for a trial near Almaty at a testplot of the Kazakh National Agricultural University. An important basis for these experiments was the setting–up of the meteorological weather station. Both universities are now continuing their efforts and conducting sowing and growing experiments with this alternative fiber crop. The field campaign was completed with a meeting between the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and the Geoeco Staff in Bishkek. At this meeting, the joint experimental design was further developed and future perspectives were discussed.
