KendyrTex: First trials

The current project KendyrTEX aims to develop Apocynum as a sustainable crop in Central Asia. Therefore, two members of the department of Geoecology traveled to South Kazakhstan and installed the previously exported weather station, including soil moisture sensors, on the first experimental site. Now, the climatic conditions can be continuously monitored. Together with colleagues from the “Al Farabi University” and the “International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea” (IFAS) in Almaty, as well as the “World Agroforestry Central Asia” (ICRAF) in Bishkek, the current status and practical experiences of the cultivation trials were discussed to further plan the joint activity in the future. The team was supported in their activities by CASIB.
